You will begin this five-week workshop learning the revolutionary history of collage, its diverse techniques, and its wild evolution.  From there we will discuss its foundational building blocks, including various materials, surfaces, backgrounds, moods and elements of composition, before we move on to applying techniques such as saturation, simplification, and the combination of various media.  

Every week you will examine and discuss work by other artists as a launching pad to create a series of focused practice works.  In this way, you will learn new and inspiring methods to make your own collage.  All materials provided, although you are welcome to bring additional images as desired.  Come ready to experiment with different ways to tell your unique stories through this magical art form.
