Shibori is a centuries-old Japanese art form that transforms plain cloth into something extraordinary. Through the simple acts of folding, twisting, pleating, and binding fabric — then submerging it in dye — You will be amazed at all the incredible patterns you can create!
In this hands-on workshop, you'll explore a variety of resist-dyeing techniques using wood boards, clips, rubber bands, and other tools to shape your fabric into unique forms. Each fold, crease, and wrap becomes a blueprint for the pattern hidden inside. Then comes the magical moment: the fabric meets the indigo dye. and watch the pattern develop as it hits the air — no two pieces ever quite the same.
Each participant will receive a scarf to dye included in the registration fee.
Whether you're a complete beginner or just curious, you'll leave with a one-of-a-kind piece and a new creative skill to carry with you.
What to know before you come:
Wear clothes (and shoes) you don't mind getting dye on — indigo is beautiful and it will find you
Feel free to bring additional small items you'd love to dye, like a t-shirt, baby onesie, tea towel, or bandana
All other materials are provided
If cost is a barrier for participation, please contact us.
