Oil Painting: Still Life from Life
Whether you’re picking up oils for the first time or looking to build on what you already know, this hands-on workshop guides you through painting from start to finish. Rather than painting from a reference photo, you will be painting from an actual still life arrangement.
Bring a few personal objects to build your set up, like a favorite mug, a vase, or something with a story. Or paint from the instructor’s arrangement. Either way, you’ll learn how much more you see when you’re looking at the real thing.
Along the way, you’ll cover:
Drawing your composition
Preparing your canvas
Arranging and composing your scene
Mixing and layering paint
Building up to full color
This class is designed with beginners in mind. You’ll learn traditional oil painting methods that create rich depth and luminous color, and leave with a finished painting you’ll be proud of.
