Led by Alla Hale, fiber artist and data scientist, this workshop offers participants an opportunity to learn a modern take on the ancient textile art of band weaving, practiced by humans worldwide for thousands of years. Participants will begin by warping their looms, then learn the fundamentals of band weaving while creating unique and beautiful wool bands for decoration and utility.
All materials are locally sourced partnering with local shepherds and foraging for dye plants in the Minnesota landscape.
No prior weaving experience necessary, though Alla will support students at whatever level of weaving they bring to class. All materials, including naturally dyed wool, provided. Tools to continue creating at home will be available for purchase.
