This Watercolor Studio is a three-part workshop series exploring the expressive possibilities of watercolor. It is designed for painters who want to learn foundational techniques and creative exploration in this fluid medium.
Session One: Finding the Flow
Understanding Watercolor from the Inside Out
This workshop focuses on the essential nature of watercolor—how water, pigment, timing, and paper interact to create movement, softness, transparency, and unexpected beauty. Students will explore foundational techniques, learning how to work with the medium, emphasizing observation, experimentation and discovering the balance between control and spontaneity.
Session Two: Atmosphere & Texture
Creating a Scene Through Layering and Expressive Mark Making
In this workshop students will build luminous glowing washes as a backdrop for an atmospheric tree landscape rich with texture, movement, and depth. Calligraphic line work will enhance the visual contrast as you complete your painting.
Session Three: Luminous Florals
Expressive Edges & Rich Color
This final workshop provides practice in water management, brushwork and edge control to create flowers that feel vibrant and full of light. Students will explore working dry on wet and wet on wet to achieve distinct result and how edges can lead the viewer through their painting.
