In this 5 week studio painting workshop, we will explore large-scale intuitive painting — a process-driven practice that prioritizes spontaneity, self-discovery, and the simple pleasure of making marks using various types of acrylic paint. This workshop will give students the opportunity and space to work on a large canvas, 3ft x 4ft, and to learn through experimenting and following your own impulses and curiosities.
Each session, instructor Megan Moore draws on her experience with large-scale canvases and mural work to guide the group through exercises, reflection, and conversation designed to help you tune into your own creative impulses. The emphasis is on learning by doing, following your curiosity, and discovering what emerges when you get out of your own way.
While subject matter is absolutely fine to include in intuitive painting, the goal is not realistic representation and we will not be focusing on that skill. The goal is discovering your own creative impulse and voice.

Process: Spontaneous and impulsive; artists paint without a preconceived end result or subject matter. It heavily emphasizes the journey of making art.
Goal: Aims for personal healing, self-discovery, and inner joy rather than gallery sales or critical acclaim.
